Firsts win at home 33-22 against Cardiff Quins

A much needed win and 5 points made it a good day out for the Vice Presidents who were sponsoring the game. Llanharan playing down the slope and with a breeze behind them showed their attacking prowess right from the start with wing Morgan Williams and centres Lloyd Thomas and Ross Pritchard looking sharp early on. It was Thomas who opened the scoring with a superb break leaving several defenders in his wake. Further tries followed from Morgan Williams,Scott Jones and Richard Byers, with 3 conversions by Scott Jones. Cardiff Quins entered in to the spirit of the game by throwing the ball around themselves and in doing so scoring an unconverted try and a penalty.

Half Time - Llanharan 26 - Cardiff Quins 10

Llanharan found it much harder going in the second half, up the slope and against the wind. A determined Cardiff Quins took the game to the home team and only good defence kept the away side out. Eventually the Quins got the points they needed scoring 2 tries, one of which was converted. However Llanharan showed their character by bouncing back with a try by Gareth Jeffs , which sealed the game for the home team. Both sides contributed to an entertaining game of rugby. For Llanharan Scott Jones controlled the game well, whilst Craig Burton always looked dangerous at scrum half. The forwards worked hard throughout the game with Huw Thomas at No. 8 leading the way.Tom Harris at prop showed good handling skills throughout the game This was a much needed shot in the arm for the team and coach Kevin Jones who has worked tirelessly this season against the odds.
