Llanharan 10 Cilfynydd 29

Once again the scoreline doesn't reflect the effort put in by the Llanharan players. Despite playing with 14 men for all the second half, after a home player was sent off for a stamp, it was only in the last 15 minutes that the players began to tire. Llanharan kicked off down the slope with the early scrums looking ominous for the home side. Cilfynydd scored first after early pressure, when their N.8 broke from a scrum in the home sides 25 to score an easy try. However Llanharan hit back with their backs inter passing for youth player Alex Newbold to finish off a great try. The home side followed this up with another try from hooker Sam Llewellyn who scored in the corner. The Dairymen nearly scored again with a chip and chase by Lloyd Thomas but the Cil defence got back to cover. Five minutes before half time Llanharan were dealt a blow when flanker Paul Winter was shown a red card. Shortly before half time Cil scored their second try which was converted. Half time score Llanharan 10 Cilfynydd 12. Both sides started the second half playing attacking rugby. After 15 minutes of the second half pressure from Cil paid off with a well worked try, making the score 17-10 to Cil. The pressure was now telling on the home side which ended with Cil outside half scoring a try under the posts which he converted. Good passing and running by Cil ended with a try in the corner. The game ended 5 minutes early after a nasty injury to home player Elliot Jenkins. We wish Elliot a speedy recovery and would like thank not only our own physio for his prompt action but also the Cilfynydd physio and player who both attended to Elliot.

Outstanding for Llanharan we’re Lloyd Thomas who was always a dangerous runner with ball in hand and Sam Llewellyn who gave everything for the cause.
