In a spirited and high tempo game Llanharan 2nds just failed to match their opponents, losing by one point. An unusual request befoe the game was made by the Home Team, asking for 4 quarters instead of the usual 2 halves, Llanharan for their part were happy to oblige.
The game was played in windy conditions which would have been nothing out of the ordinary for the home side. Aberavon made a strong start wracking up 3 tries and a conversion in the first half an hour, making the score 17-0 to the home side. However Llanharan hit back with a try by Gavin Allen, converted by Jack Dauncey, to make the score 17-7. Despite solid defence by Llanharan, they went further behind when Aberavon scored another 2 tries, one of which was converted, to give the home side a substantial lead of 21 points.
The Llanharan side could have gone under at this point but they showed their character by bursting back in to the game with tries from Rhys Langdon, Will Osbourne and Lee ( i will get my 400 caps in one season ) Arthur. Jack Dauncey converted all 3 tries to make the score 29-28. Not quite enough to win the game but the men in charge of the seconds Rhys Langdon, Chris Sharkey, Gavin Allen and Nicky Allen would have been pleased and proud of the effort and skill shown by the boys. Captain Evan James ( See photo ) would also have been pleased with his sides comeback.
