Ken "Smudger" Smith

Writer's picture: KipKip

It is with deep regret that we have to announce the passing of Club stalwart Ken Smith. Smudger started his club rugby career playing full back for the Youth team. On leaving Youth rugby he decided to play prop. With in 3 years he was scrummaging against the legendary Pontypool front row, when we narrowly lost at home to the Welsh Champions 9-3, in 1973. In more recent times Smudger could be found helping his lifelong friend Glyn Stephens, prepare our pitch for match days. Back in the old club, he liked nothing more than setting challenges for any one willing to take him on.

We send our deepest sympathies to Ken's family and friends.

Ken is in the front row left of this photo.
