Great win for llanharan u16s first game of the season against a tough, well drilled Barry side.
Barry raced out to a 17-5 half time lead with Evan Benjamin scoring the only first half points for Llanharan, chasing down and scoring from his own chip and chase.
After the “hairdryer” treatment at half time the team then decided to turn up second half and stopped Barry from crossing their line again which allowed them to win the game.
Harrison Richards scored a try just after half time under the sticks and converted after a quick tap and go, then five minutes later scored another from a clean line break by Evan. Harrison again with the conversion.
Evan Benjamin then grabbed his second from another lovely break from Harrison, who drew in three defenders to gift him the try under the posts. Harrison again slotted over.
Most pleasing for the coaches was the way the pack fronted up to a big and aggressive Barry pack in the second half, and allowed the backs the ball the needed to win the game.
Final score Llanharan 26 - Barry 17.
Special mentions to Lukas Williams, Ben Williams and Maison Davenport (on debut) for their outstanding defence and grit throughout the game.
Player of the match for Llanharan, which could have gone to number of players today, but the coaches chose Maison Davenport.
Special mention to Rhys Turner (playing out of position) and Joe Hayes.
David Benjamin
