Llanharan 2nds 71 v Bridgend Sports 0
It was a lovely sunny day at the Dairyfield where our 2nds entertained Bridgend Sports. It was ominous for the Sports when Llanharan scored after 2 minutes of the game, when veteran Paul Winters opened the scoring with a try near the posts. Roy Furnival converted. From then on Llanharan proceeded to score tries at a regular intervals.
Half Time: Llanharan 34 Bridgend Sports 0
The second half carried on in similar fashion with Llanharan running in the tries. In fairness to the Sports they never gave up and could have scored a couple of tries themselves, if the referee had been a bit kinder to them.
For Llanharan Rhys Newman looked lively on the wing and put his hand up for a First Team place in the future and Tom Jenkins was everywhere around the field. Jack Dauncey sold more dummies in this game than Mothercare stocked when they were open. Considering it was the first outing of the season for the Seconds, coaches Huw Russell and Lee Thomas, must have been pleased with the way they played. Mention has to be made of evergreen forward Paul Winters, who belied his 40ish years by charging around the field like a spring chicken. Coach Gareth Nicholas was congratulated by Andy Price on his 70th birthday.
