We haven't played our opponents tomorrow Nantyfyllon for a number of years. However in the 70's they were no strangers to Llanharan RFC. Every Boxing Day we would slug it out with Nanty in Llanharan, both teams knackered after tooo much Xmas drink and food. But after the game both Teams would have a great time in the hall of the old club. What went on is not for publication on our Social Media pages, especially in this day and age. However the 70's were different times and suffice to say everybody had a great time.
There's a great story in the late Welsh Legend JJ Williams book about playing his first Senior game for Nanty, home against Llanharan. He was only 18 and playing outside half but still managed to score 5 tries against us. A few months later Nanty visited Llanharan for the return game. The ball went in to touch and JJ leapt over the fence on the Welfare ground to retrieve the ball. On his way back an old lady hit him on the head with her umbrella and told him he "wasn't scoring 5 tries today".
Today Nantyfyllon are playing in Division 1 Central, so will be a stern test for us tomorrow. Off the field, they have a new clubhouse and are nearly ready to play on their new pitch. Welcome Nantyfyllon and we hope you enjoy your day with us.
