Up "n" Under

It's 25 years since the cameras started rolling at the Dairyfield, to film scenes for the comedy film Up "n" Under. The stars of the film were Neil Morrissey ( Men Behaving Badly ) and Samantha Janus/Womack ( East Enders ) For those who have never seen it, the plot goes like this. "The Cobblers Arms have been the best and most feared Amateur Rugby League team for the past ten years. Ex-pro Arthur bets their boss that he could train a bunch of deadbeats to defeat them in a local rugby sevens tournament. But to do so he must first get them into shape with the help of the very attractive Hazel Scott." The film was written by John Godber and initially was a stage play in 1984. The Dairyfield doubled for a Rugby League Ground in Hull, West Yorkshire. The film cost $1 millions dollars to make and took $5.4 million dollars at the Box Office. The Rugby League scenes are not great but then again to make some of the actors look like Rugby players would have taken a miracle!
