Well Done Gareth

Well done local boy and referee Gareth Butler after his life saving exploits whilst in charge of Saturday's Cup match between Swansea Uplands RFC and our neighbours Llantrisant RFC. Here's what Swansea Uplands RFC had to say about him:

"We wish to thank yesterday’s referee Mr Gareth Butler for his expertise in dealing with the traumatic injury and we have no doubt that if he hadn’t of been there and dealt so professionally with the situation, the outcome to our player could have been fatal. Yes, it’s true that you can’t play without the referee but yesterday, he went well above the call of duty and saved a life. Thank you. We’d also like to thank the Paramedics, ambulance service, staff at Morriston hospital and of course all involved with Swansea uplands RFC.

The cup game was abandoned during the first half yesterday due to a serious injury to one of our players. We are pleased to report he is ok and will follow the return to play protocol.
